This hands-on, summer field course explores biodiversity in the remote ecosystem of the Solomon Islands. You’ll combine intensive research on the environmental factors that generate and maintain biodiversity with participation in community-driven conservation projects. Because islands are geographically isolated from continents, they often harbor animal and plant species that are unique to island ecosystems and perhaps among the most threatened on the planet. This course will provide students with direct experience in field research exploring biodiversity and the implementation of conservation programs in the Solomon Islands.
